Preventive Dentistry

Smiles on 35th is proud to serve patients of all ages, including children. Our goal is to keep your smile healthy, beautiful, and strong.

Preventive dentistry services include examinations, digital x-rays, professional ultrasonic cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and oral hygiene education.

Our technology also includes cone-beam diagnostics, intraoral cameras, and an iTero® scanner. Moreover, we are proud to offer CEREC and CAD/CAM technology for same-day crowns.

Periodontal Maintenance

Are your gums swollen, tender, or sensitive? Do you experience bleeding with brushing or flossing? You could have gum disease.

For patients with advanced gum disease, called periodontitis, we offer ultrasonic deep cleaning treatments. This allows our hygienists to get into the deep pockets of your gums to remove harmful bacteria and plaque with less discomfort.

These deep-cleaning treatments, called scaling and root planing, along with education and your improved hygiene habits, can halt or reverse gum disease.

Mercury-Free, Tooth-Colored Fillings

If you have pain or sensitivity, you may have dental decay that requires a filling. Sometimes, however, patients experience no symptoms.

Our advanced diagnostic technology helps us detect dental decay before it becomes problematic. If caught in its earliest stage, we may recommend a “wait and watch” approach.

However, if you need a filling, you can be rest assured we offer the best. Our fillings are mercury-free and safe, and they are also tooth-colored. This means you don’t have to worry about health issues or unsightly fillings impeding the beauty of your smile.

Treatment for a Gum Infection or Abscess

Do you have pain or tenderness in one part of your gum or taste pus in your mouth? Don’t put off seeing your dentist. You could have a gum infection, and if it isn’t treated, it can quickly become an abscess. The pain from an abscess is severe and will usually bring patients in for an emergency visit.

If the abscess ruptures, you may notice a significant reduction in your pain, but treatment is still urgent, as an abscess cannot heal on its own.

For a mild infection, you may need nothing more than a course of antibiotics.

However, if you ignore your symptoms and the infection develops into an abscess, treatment is much more involved. It will need to be drained, and all the debris needs to be cleaned out. This may require deep cleaning with scaling and root planing.

If the abscess spreads to the pulp inside your tooth, you may need root canal treatment to remove the damaged part of the tooth. And if the abscess is large and has caused destruction of bone tissue, you may need an extraction.

Root Canals and Same-Day Crowns

If dental decay goes beyond the surface, you may need a root canal. In most cases, Dr. Shahid can perform your treatment without referring you out to someone else.

After root canal therapy, your tooth will most likely need a dental crown. Our CEREC and CAD/CAM technology allows us to provide you with a beautiful, natural-looking one-visit crown. This eliminates the need for repeat visits and a temporary crown.

Oral Surgery

While Dr. Shahid prefers a conservative approach to dentistry, sometimes tooth extraction is necessary. If you need tooth extraction, you can trust Dr. Shahid’s care and knowledge. She can also place a dental implant to restore your missing tooth.

Moreover, to improve your outcome, Dr. Shahid can perform Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatments to improve your outcome and shorten healing time.

Bruxism Treatment

Do you clench or grind your teeth? This habit, also called bruxism, can damage and wear down your teeth and cause problems with your temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This can lead to interrupted sleep, headaches, jaw pain, ringing in the ears, and a locked jaw.

Dr. Shahid can provide you with a custom-made device that stops bruxism. Since bruxism occurs most often when patients sleep, this device is meant to be worn at night.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Do you want to improve the beauty of your smile?

At SMILES ON 35th, we offer cosmetic bonding, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and same-day crowns.

You can choose one treatment to enhance your smile or combine two or more for a smile makeover to improve your appearance dramatically.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation

Do you have several issues that affect the function and beauty of your smile? We can rebuild or restore all problem teeth with a combination of treatments.

Common reasons for a full mouth rehabilitation include:

  • Several missing teeth from trauma, decay, or gum disease
  • Broken or damaged teeth
  • Severely worn teeth, such as from bruxism or acid reflux
  • Pain in the jaw or headaches related to a misaligned bite

Treatment may include Invisalign clear aligners, dental crowns, bridges, implants, or dentures. It may also include the need for root canal therapy or oral surgery, such as extraction or a bone graft.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Crooked, crowded, and rotated teeth not only affect the beauty of your smile, but they also affect function and overall oral health.

If you would like to improve your smile with orthodontics, we offer Invisalign clear aligners. This innovative orthodontic option can effectively straighten your teeth and improve your bite discreetly, comfortably, and in less time than traditional metal braces.
