Same Day Crowns in a Single Visit
Need a crown but can't spare two appointments? Same day crowns in Seattle at SMILES ON 35th are designed and made in our office while you wait. Dr. Rubecca Shahid uses CEREC to fit your crown in one visit, with no temporary and no second appointment.

One visit instead of two
No temporary crown to baby for weeks, and no second round of numbing.
The usual crown means two appointments: one to prepare the tooth and fit a temporary, and another a couple of weeks later to swap it for the real thing. In between, you're careful with that side of your mouth and hoping the temporary stays put.
With same-day crowns, we scan your tooth, design the crown on screen and mill it from a solid block of ceramic in our office. You leave with your final crown the same day. It's fewer hours away from work, one numbing instead of two, and no temporary to worry about. And because every crown we make is biomimetic, it's designed to keep as much healthy tooth as possible.

Why a same-day crown is worth it
A crown made in one visit saves time, and when it's planned well, it protects more of your tooth too. Here's what that means for you.
Your crown is designed, milled and fitted in a single appointment, so you take less time off and only need to be numbed once. It's one less thing to fit around a busy week.
There's no fragile temporary to chip, loosen or fall out, and no weeks of chewing carefully on the other side.
A 3D scan captures your tooth precisely, and the ceramic is shaded and finished by hand to blend with your other teeth. Your crown matches the teeth beside it.
Every crown we make is a biomimetic crown. It keeps as much healthy tooth as possible and bonds to what remains, instead of relying on cutting the whole tooth down.
Ceramic bonded to healthy tooth shares chewing forces the way natural tooth does, which helps protect the tooth from cracks for years to come.
How we make your crown in one day
A crown is a cap that restores a damaged tooth's strength and shape. Here's how we make yours in a single visit.
A 3D scan
A quick 3D scan of your tooth replaces messy impression trays and captures every detail for a precise fit.
Designed and milled here
With CEREC, Dr. Shahid designs your crown on screen and our in-office mill carves it from solid ceramic.
Every crown is biomimetic
Every crown, filling and bridge we place is biomimetic, keeping as much healthy tooth as possible and bonding to what remains.
Same-day bridges
Many bridges, which replace a missing tooth by spanning the gap, can be designed and milled the same day too.
Who same-day crowns are for
They suit people who need a crown or bridge, have a cracked or broken tooth, or have a large old filling that's failing, and who would rather not make two trips or wear a temporary.
A same-day crown restores the tooth's strength and appearance in a single visit, with a biomimetic design that protects the healthy tooth underneath.

A gentle dentist who champions your lifelong health
Dr. Rubecca Shahid owns SMILES ON 35th in Wedgwood and leads your care herself, gently and with time to listen. Her own health struggles, then her mother's diagnosis, left her asking what the point of all our hard work is without the health to enjoy it. Longevity dentistry is her answer: care that protects your mouth and your health, so you can enjoy the life you're building.
Her care is conservative: she saves natural tooth wherever she can, chooses the least invasive option that will last, and recommends only treatment that truly helps you. When a tooth needs more, she shows you why. She is empathetic and thorough, with clear choices and no pressure.
She champions your long-term health and has trained to deliver on it. A Kois Center graduate, one of about 1,200 dentists worldwide, she completes nearly eight times the continuing education Washington requires every year. Her training spans prevention, function and sleep, restoration and smile design, so one dentist who knows you can plan each stage, close to home.
- Advanced training in diagnosis, treatment planning and bite stabilization from the Kois Center
- Biomimetic Dentistry Practitioner with mastership from the Alleman Center
- Member of American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine
- Member of American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
I came to longevity dentistry through my own health journey, wanting to understand why problems start and how to prevent them. What I needed then is what I want for you now: more good years, a smile you feel good about, and a dentist who listens.

There are so many nice touches to keep you comfortable: a heated neck pillow, a massage chair, a warm blanket and a diffuser filling the room with the smell of lavender. It does take time, about three hours, but it's so nice to get it all done in one day and to have a pleasant experience!
Same-day crown questions

Yes. Same-day crowns are made from strong, high-quality ceramic and designed to fit your bite precisely. The main difference is that they're made in our office instead of a lab, so you don't need a temporary or a second visit.
With good care and a stable bite, a well-made ceramic crown can last many years. How long yours lasts depends on your bite, grinding, decay risk and home care, so we check those too.
Often, yes. Many bridges can be designed and milled in our office the same day. Larger or more complex bridges may need more time, and we'll tell you at your exam.
The cost depends on the tooth and the type of crown it needs, so it's set after your exam. You see the cost before treatment begins, and we help you make the most of your dental insurance benefits. Financing through Cherry is available.
We numb the tooth, prepare it, scan it, design your crown, mill it and bond it in place, all in one appointment.
Usually not. Because your final crown is made the same day, there's no temporary to wear, chip or lose.
